Wondering if it would be a good idea to have a sticky of good tool shops and plumbing shops ?

Any threads naming specific companies/traders will be deleted. Exceptions to this will be at the moderators' discretion.

Do not advertise any commercial activity on this site. This will lead to an immediate ban, the duration of which is at the moderators discretion.

As you can see from above i dont think its allowed. However if you can debate it enough i will mail a higher mod and let them have a final say....

    What says you....

I say follow the lead ,like the electrical forum.
    LINK

I think it's important that I say ,I have no links to any retail or shop myself ,it's merely advice is all I was thinking of.

Maybe, i like a lot of what the Electrical forum have done.

I would rather it be stuck and closed. If someone wanted to add one, they could PM a mod. This would lessen the spam/shilling to nearly zero.

Thanks Micky ,I don't know of any specifically good plumbing tool shops ,although I've had the same tools for years. It would be nice to have a list to fall back on here , I think.

Perhaps naming shops and the agencies they carry would be better. That way we are avoiding negative publicity....

I think its a good idea but I understand where you're coming from, from a commerical point of view that someone has an invested interest in the company.

Although I'm relatively new here I still notice that theres maybe 8-10 regular plumbers posting replies to peoples problems, so some of these people may know where to get a better deal for boilers, oil tanks etc.

I personally dont think it should matter if a company is named because surely this forum is here not just to help people with problems but to make sure the members of it dont get ripped off and any money saving help should really be appraised.

I think its an even better idea for tools. I would buy some tools online and again I'm looking a good deal as well as fast delivery or good communication etc from the company. So if I'm looking a certain drill and someone can recommend me where to get it at a good price from a reputable company then brilliant - thanks very much!

Maybe as someone said a sticky closed topic that you can add to it through a pm to a mod is the best idea.

Or what about an offers thread.. $company are doing offer for on mira sport shower for £x until $date.

A closed sticky would probably be best ,with a few good toolshops.
I think it would probably be easier to have a thread about tool shops and agree on which few are the best for the sticky. One shop comes to mind is Tucks ,but it's years since I was in there and I don't know if it's any good now:(

They are brilliant, as supplies go. Great with dealing with Makita and spares, in my experience anyway

Myself and Joey will work on this over the next while.

I think we could do with an off topic industry thread. To inform of changes within the industry and to generally have a moan.

Is there a need for one?

Appreciated Micky ,the only other idea I can think of is to have a private subforum for gas installers for helping each other out with diagnostics. But it's a whole different kettle of fish ,so only a thought.

    Thanks again.

Not sure if there are numbers to justify a private sub forum. However anyone can start a private social group.
