Waste of time and money, IFA leadership is all about sound bites, photo ops and junkets to Brussels.

who else is going to lobby Brussels on the farmers behalf, how effective it is, is another thing, would hate to see the state of Irish farming, if the IFA were nt on the job.
was on farms over in England a few months back, and a couple of the farm owners/managers commented on how luck Irish farming was to have the likes of IFA and teagasc, as the Nfu was useless and the research bodies had no vision.

and sure if that is nt good enough, there is your e70 off your fbd insurance and 15% off you vhi, if you are still with them!

as far as im concerned it is money well spent

all you have to do is look at the beef grid, its fcuked up most of the beef farming and the ifa had no quams about it, paid off by the factories in my view. the icsa are adamant to change it but no pressure from the ifa, its a gravy train, sexy, glamorised, popular game. there are too many 'big' fellas in it that only want the news before anyone else e.g. the now historical payments. There should be a one farmer lobby group that actually fights for farmers not all these groups discussing different matters with the government.

I think so. I was in trouble with cattle on my cmms that were collected but not taken off the database. Got them all sorted bar 3 and county chairman spent a day on the phone to dept and got it fixed for me. You never know when you will need a bit of a hand . And the phone and electricity savings add up too. I didnt like how cosy our last president was with minister mary but both passed on to other things. I suppose it all depends how much use you make of their services and they have a lot of them

the ifa have stood by me in various issues, with the dept, over the years, have also used their solicitor for advise

discount from FBD, using their electricity and phone services, have also taken up some of the offers in hotels, which reminds me our anniversary is coming up shortly.

I have not always agreed with some of their policies particularly with sheep,

Didn't vote for last President (walshe) actually canvassed as much as i could against him , am better pleased with Bryan's commitment so far.

I think it is good value for money, we need a strong lobby group. Ok people think the big farmers benefit most, but it is only large farms that can afford to pay someone while 'the boss' is off doing ifa meetings.

In fairness it would be impossible for a 'one man band' farmer to be off 2-3 nights a week and to bluebell another couple of days a month. In the last review of cap there were winners and losers, intensive beef finishers came off the best and new entrants got screwed. It is going to be the same post 2013, there will be winners and losers too, we don't know who they are going to be yet, but I hope the genuine farmer, not the 'sofa producers' benefit the most.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

my dad was always very involved with ifa and was always away when we where young , going to brussells , bluebell and all over the country i just dont see that commitment from any of the local guys in our area - maybe i am biased - i know we have the vhi , etc tbh i dont use the mobile phone service as we have no vodafone coverage here

Just to let ye know, there are far better deals to be got off vodafone than through the ifa packages. before I signed up with vodafone I compared packages and they were 5 euro a month cheaper than ifa. Even the ifa rep admitted it when he called.
Should our IFA subscriptions be linked to our SFP value seeing as our leader is favouring the historical payment method...maybe?
