As the opposite to "And the dreamer of the year is......" thread isn't it about time we started a best buy or bargains on the net thread? I'm sure we're all looking for a bargain these days and some people are selling off their cars at knock down prices.

Well there is the bangernomics thread for bargains at around €1000.
A general bargains thread is a good idea though

I think the bangernomics thread is literally about bangers, some people are looking for modern stuff at knock down prices, I know I am anyway!!

These bargains are much rarer than some would have us believe though. Regardless of the crap you might see on the news etc about auctions where cars are going for 50% of value, it doesnt ever really happen. The only real bargains might be stuff thats not wanted such as large petrol engined cars.
Just go looking for a car - Nobody giving them away IMO.
Even bank cars going through the auctions are not being sold in many cases at the first sale due to high reserves.

Right well I've another thread open about this one but surely this would have to come into this thread.

For what you're getting it's a complete steal.

    Nothing wrong with it IMO!

Irish people are way too conservative about things like this. That's why most cars sold in this country are Silver, Black, Red or Blue.

Apart from it being a bit over priced, I don't think white is a nice colour in this climate, in a warm sunny place fine, but not here, almost impossible to keep clean, just my opinion of course.

Overpriced? How much do you think it should be going for?

Bear in mind that you'd probably get a decent deal out of him too.

That's the asking price and it's still the cheapest one online! it's the colour that are putting people off IMO but I gotta say I like it, simply because it's different!

Funnily enough black is harder to keep clean IMO!

I think its marginally over priced too. 36 - 37k would surely buy it.

I would read that as it being well priced and the dealer has given himself some wiggle room!

Personally I think €35k would take it away. I think that particular car on been up there for a long time.

I would if I had the money! White on high end cars looks amazing regardless of climate

No, that thread is really just more about price (2K tops pretty much). There are a hell a lot of seriously cool cars in that thread, that are definitely not bangers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,661 ✭✭✭Voodoomelon

That is a bargain, its all relative.
    And its less than €25k.

Unless someone was a total knob I reckon they would have to admit it is very rare that someone actually puts a banger up as a suggestion. Of course, some folk (ie knobs) reckon most 10 year old cars bought for small money are bangers.

No idea why you're getting hammered for this comment. I think the car is bloody disgusting.

And it being 05 is totally germane despite what others are saying. It is a nondescript, non-classic BMW. So in lieu of any aesthetic premium, what would matter to whoever buys this car is that it looks sharp, modern and credible. But with cars as tacky as BMW's, and this one in particular, every year counts when it comes to how "trophy" the car appears - a 5 year old BMW is older in that regard than a 5 year old Merc. People who buy and admire BMW's have no taste, so the bling of the nouveau is important to these folks. This yoke doesn't even have that. It's a dog.

    LOL:D

Back on topic - I think this is quite good value, especially if gotten for a bit less than the asking price which would no doubt be possible. Just get rid of the white wheels:pac:

It actually never ceases to amaze me with the amount of rubbish people come out with in here sometimes, and the above post is a prime example of that!

I was really just making the distinction between cars that are great value for money, old, fully-loaded and probably have big engines and cars that are reliable, but utterly dull that will just get you from A to B but full of Zzzzzz.
