So I've been having a problem with my bike. Ever since I got it the chain has been kinking. I didn't know at first what was happening except that the chain would slip after a week or so of riding (in and out of work). How the guy in the shop just twists it back in shape for me but it occurs to me this is not normal.

So whats the story oh bike gurus ? Have I got a ****ty chain ? Am I too aggressive on my gears ? Are there any ultra hard chains I can replace it with ?

Sounds like your chain is too long. The rear derailleur should prevent any slack. Put your gears into the smallest front and back cog. Is the chain slack? The rear derailleur cage should point backwards and the the chain at the top should be parallel to that at the bottom if you see what I mean
