Does anyone know if the Air Corps are recruiting cadets or if they will be recruiting cadets anytime soon? Thanks

They were a few months ago, the closing date for applications was in late July. They usually only run cadetships once a year though, so you'll probably have to wait another year to apply.

And they were only looking for two this time. More people win the Lotto every year.

They took on 5 cadets this year, which is more than previous years. This year was a big recruitment drive for all sections of the Defence Forces though due to so many retiring because of the pension changes earlier this year. Next year they'll probably only take on 2 or 3 as per usual.

Always wanted to give the Air Corps selection process a try. Though because I'm 26 now and lack of Qualifications from High School it has prevented me. To date I have completed a Private Helicopter License, a Level 3 Engineering Diploma and will have my Foundation Degree in Electrical Engineering next June when I'm 27. I will no doubt need my full Degree to cover me in the academic area from previous years. At 29 all Military options will be out the window for me regarding flying.

Out of curiosity, who has got into Air Corps on here and is now flying the Air Corps Helicopters?

If there is someone reading this who flies for the Air Corps they are constrained from posting anything. So you won't get an actual reply from a serving Air Corps pilot.

In any case you probably don't qualify as basic Leaving Cert grades are required even for graduates. Not only that you must be under 28.

But I have to say. I wouldn't recommend it as a career anymore if you want to fly. There are better options.
