    Hi everyone, I'm here looking for a bit of advice. I had a bit of a Eureka moment the other day and I've been playing it through in my head, I think I could have a decent idea, (I know I'm not the first)!

    Only thing is, I don't have the skills/know how to implement it - - yet!

    The idea is basically an advertising add-in for digital tv. There would be a fair bit of tech involved, and I know a teeny bit about it.

    In the process of researching now for possible demand etc but there is nothing like this at the minute. I've a clear idea of how it will work and there is similar tech out there to make it happen.

    Big question, should I go direct to digital TV company ie Sky, Virgin/UPC etc and put my idea to them? Will they take me seriously? What is the next step? I realise I'm talking about jumping in at the deep end, has anyone ever done something like this? Is an idea and research enough or would I need something more?

    Looking into that as well, it seems protecting tech/software ideas is harder than products.
