Help me with my first setup

Hey, I have been DJing on software and in society on a fancy setup for a while.

I can't afford the big fancy Pioneer mixers but I just want something to get me started with my own setup with a limited budget.
However, I can spend ~€350 on every part. Thats 350 for a mixer, 350 for each deck, 350 for an amp, 350 for each speaker, 350 for headphones etc.

I'd rather not get into or explain why I can't distribute the money equally and I know it looks limited on some parts and excessive on others.

Also, I would like a bassy audio setup, maybe 2 passive speakers and a sub.
As for headphones, I'd prefer a more accurate monitor like sound.

Thanks a million, and sorry if I posted in the wrong section.

    CD player
    http://www.thomann.de/ie/numark_ndx_800.htm

    Mixer
    http://www.thomann.de/ie/behringer_ddm_4000.htm

    Monitors
    http://www.thomann.de/ie/krk_rp5_rokit_g2_bundle.htm

    Headphones
    http://www.thomann.de/ie/pioneer_hdj2000.htm

these are pretty much the best you can get with your budget constraints.

as you already have software would you not shell out for a decent controller, maybe the S4 , would offer timecode compatability and all.

Well yes it would and no it wouldnt. I get huge discounts from my colleague on DJ equipment around ~350.

I doubt Ill need monitors but Ill consider them for home use. More looking for a passive loud speaker set up.
Headphones look nice. Last pair I had were the awesome Sony MDR-V700DJ which were half the price so I'm looking forward to these.
Mixer doesn't look half bad at all. In fact it looks more than enough. CD Player looks basic no thrills but looks like it spec well.

    Thanks <3

any more recommendations, id be more than happy to hear :)

Emmm... just wondering, would it be easier to be lazy and just get a good active system rather than a passive one. and get something like the BEHRINGER B815NEO?

Are you just looking to get into djing as a hobby? Bedroom djing to begin with?
If so in my opinion your spreading your money too thin on the important stuff.

Firstly headphones, for starting off you can pick up a very decent pair for under 50Euro.

Monitors and speakers, if your only starting off in your bedroom (but you may not be) just use your home stereo once you have a decent one with a AUX connection. Those book shelf monitors are only used for music production.

Cdjs, if i were you i would try get a decent pair of second hand either pionner 800, 800mk2 or pionner 400's which can be connected to your laptop if your into that sort of thing.

Mixer, you can pick up really cheap two channel mixers these days. i used one of these a few years back very solid and a few decent effects.

Nawh, Ill be tugging this **** with me to house parties, etc.
I dont mind spending lots on headphones, monitors, amps and speakers.
I'm happy with the reccomended mixer.

As for the CDJ, the numark isn't impressive, but as much as I would love a Pioneer, I think I will just wait it out.

Also, I can get the DDM 4000 new for around the same price as the one you linked via my colleague, hence why I am limiting my budget per item as I can't get reductions on anything more expensive.

However, as soon as i can afford it, I was planning on getting Pioneer CDJ 800MK2 or 900s

I do house parties atm with a 1KW Amp and two 350W 15" 3 Ways. Its plenty for anything bar a mansion. Amp was 200 squids(thomann.de) and speakers(the pair) were same(second hand). There's take the 150 off the amo and spend 500 on a decent pair of 300W's.

I'm thinking of getting the Behringer EP4000 4Kw amplifier and picking up the most powerful RMS bassy passives I can get for ~350$ each. Tempted to get subwoofers as well.

I have 2 sets of z-5500s for my pc [1010w RMS / 2020w Max], so Id crack up if my DJ setup wasn't louder :pac:

Again question about the CD player:
    PIONEER CDJ-200
    or
    NUMARK NDX 800

I can get them at the same price.

For clubs and halls using massive bass cabs isnt an issue, in houses it is. You can blair the mids/highs all you like but the bass is what carries.

Bigger isnt always better, the more you have to lug the less fun it'll be.

Makes sense about blaring mids and highs at houses. I'm a bit of a nymph for bass though but I see your point. I guess two good speakers and subwoofer I could optionally bring would be ideal.

    Still wondering about:
    PIONEER CDJ-200
    or
    NUMARK NDX 800

I prefer Pioneer but Numark specs a lot better :/

    CD Player: http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR321897

    Speakers: http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR342913

    AMP: http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR222624

Subs (I'd go with powered): http://www.thomann.de/ie/the_box_ta15.htm

Headphones: You'd be mad to spend anything close to 350 unless you are a professional on big money so not going to recommend any

That setup IMO would have plenty of power for almost any small to medium event most normal DJ's would play at, especially if you get two subs, most of the items are even under budget which leaves money for bags / cases for your equipment which are very important. It would be a very good starter kit IMO and would last years if looked after. Agree with the poster above, lugging subs around is no fun, and is unnecessary in many cases, best to get one powerful one rather than two smaller ones.

    Hope this helps :)

    Couldnt agree more!!
One of my mates uses 19" dual cd players and mixer...Numark I think? An 1100w amp and two JBL speakers!(Not sure of exact model, but they have rocked parties with 150 -200 people:D and have a lovely bass sound!) ...But anyway my point being...He carries 4 items, and a basket with cd's and cables! Its not a 5 star setup by any means but it cost him around 2-2.5 grand and it has done and will do everything he wants it to!:) Plus its light and easy to carry around!

On the other hand I bought two KME tops and a 15" bass bin! The tops are a joy to carry but the bass bin really is a pain in the .....!
Unless you have plenty of room...and a good back, I wouldnt recommend it!

Active speakers are amped already right?

They are, you can use passive tops with an amp, and then active sub(s) when you need the extra power in bigger venues, otherwise you will need a second amp & a crossover etc for the subs and it gets messy. Those warrior speakers & amp I linked are great value for money, they may not have JBL or RCF written on the front of them, but for the money they sound good. There is also an active version of those speakers which are only a little dearer, meaning you wouldn't need an amp at all, one less thing to lug around. All my speakers are active, and I wouldn't use anything else now.

EDIT: Woops I just realised I actually linked the Active version in my original post, the passive version are on the site too, these are the ones to use with the amp

    http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR205746

Just over 350 for the pair with bags included, bargain!
