I met Ted and Ruby at the airport one time.
I was in the departure lounge just about to go to Cheltenham Open meeting in 2008. I seen Ted standing in the distance waiting on another flight. He spotted me looking at him strange so I over and got him to sign a Cheltenham preview mag that I had.
I was just askin was he gonna be workin for Channel 4 and he said he was just goin to support Ruby. His wife and daughter Katie were there too.
Then he said 'Ruby will be here in a minute, come on over and get him to sign it'. I thought sweet - first visit to Cheltenham and meeting the Walshs. Deadly!!
Anyway, Ruby came along and went over and said hello and he signed the mag for me. Ted continued to chat to me and both of them were very nice. He was due to ride Silverburn in the Paddy Power and I asked him should I lump on. He said 'theres better bets than Silverburn...American Trilogy, first race tomorrow'. I said thanks and then backed American Trilogy in the novice hurdle the next day. He finished 3rd:rolleyes:.
Ah well, was still great to meet the two of them.

Ted couldnt be a more personable guy. Ive been at Leopardstown before and Ted was standing in the TV position doing sound tests before the racing began. It was quiet around the parade ring accept for a few lads standing at the ring watching Ted and Robert Hall go through the motions.
One of them just shouted over 'has Ruby anything today, Ted?'. And he just replied back, not sure who said it, with 'Ahh, bits and pieces, nothing much, probably Pat Fahys horse in the handicap hurdle is his best chance'
(He was talking about Native Stag in the 3:05 on 6th February,2005).

Anyway, have you lads any interesting stories of meeting jockeys?
