Meteor BBTG top up issues

Meteor's pay as you go broadband seems to be suffering from serious problems in the "I want to pay you" department.

    - They're messing with the 30 day pass in some way. It used to expire at midnight on the last day. You could find out which day by asking for a balance - ".... valid until 02 September" for example. Which means end of the 1st september. Well, that's really clear....

Now it appears to expire at the time you created the pass. Eg: 13:10 today in my brother's case. BUT. It will not let you buy another 30 day pass until after midnight on that day saying "Your 30 day pass is already active". And guess what happens when you connect. Yup, you get a one day pass docked from your balance. That's called misrepresentation guys.

    - This default to create an automatic one day pass, simply by clicking "connect", is seriously stupid and likely to generate issues for Meteor. Combined with the other top up problems it means that noone in their right mind adds more than €20 at a time. Most companies would kill to be paid in advance for a service, Meteor makes sure that you don't dare. Do their shareholders/owners know that Meteor is doing their utmost to limit their cash reserves?

    - The one day pass is not a 24 hour pass - it's valid until midnight. Which is why they call it a one day pass. Very amusing. Alienate your customers right off.

I've had similar confusion on this matter too and got caught for a 1 day pass which until now didn't realise only last till midnight. I eventually got a resonce on the meteor forum saying that the 30 day pass expires at 12 midnight on the last day.

I screenshot this...in fairness I only got caught once when I first joined.

It is ridiculous that you cant pre order a 30day pass in advance (cash in the bank)

Have you taken this up on the meteor forum....though you could be waiting a month there for a reply.

Bit in Bold: We can top up our accounts (money in their bank) in advance but can't purchase a 30day pass in advance (to run after current one expires)

user friendly how are you (eircom) on the other hand I am getting this kind of speed (bit poor tonight) consistently.

Yeah, I can't complain about the speed. It's really a good system for me, especially as I can see the mobile mast from my window ;)

In borderline areas, the constant switching from 3G to Edge makes it unusable. I force lock EDGE when I'm in these areas and it's fine for general net and email...

No I didn't bother. I head to Boards.ie first when having a rant :) I figure that maybe Meteor staff are reading boards.ie anyway.

Talking to staff in Meteor shops they had plenty of incensed people coming in who didn't read the documentation at all and had no idea that they were incurring automatic 1 day passes all the time. I guess that's the other extreme - customers who aren't paying attention.

I had a problem where I requested a 30 Day pass and it failed - got a text message back saying failed to work, contact support. But it deducted the 20 euro (which I managed to get back by reading them the number on the topup receipt I'd just bought). That's why I don't top up at all until I'm ready to get a new pass. It's all a bit silly really, I'd expect a secure web interface instead of all this texting.
