The organisers must've been laughing all the way to the bank by charging people a tenner in when all the info in there is freely available on the net.

If people aren't resourceful enough to learn how to get themselves a working holiday visa without the help of an agency then chances are they won't be resourceful enough to find a job when they get there

Was there today, thought it was pretty poor, venue was too small, should have been in the main hall. Que was massive for some of the immigration desk (Canada, Oz, NZ) not enough embassy staff. Ten euro in plus 6 euro for the car, a bit steep, stayed an hour got nothing from it really, hope some had a bit more success then me.

To be fair I think the organisers of this do let everyone know that not only is all the information available on line, but it is available on their site!! There were also a load of free tickets online

It not just about people looking for working holiday visas! - there was so much more information about other other types of visa's, sponsorships and De facto partners - I personally found it useful and found out alot of information and straight answers that I simply couldnt get online and was great to be able to talk to someone face to face instead of just reading through web page after web page!

yea went to it as well - wasnt too impressed from the beginning as it got a wee bit crowd after a while. It was quite interesting taking to people and finding out exactly what there looking for and the best way to move forward. Interesting comments about the cost - cant beleive the organiser left people standing in the rain outside...tut..tut.. plus it wasnt that good to merit time on rte news - seriously come on...

I hear about it on the news on Saturday. I am just back from oz a few week after a number of immigration issued!! It sounded very much to me on the news that oz is being pushed an easy way of your problems here...jobs are waiting.. just get on the plane!! If you have a skill they really want and you can get skilled migrant visa you are laughing.. otherwise you can be in for a rough ride!! Nothing is handed to you on a plate over there. Job scene out there is competitive.

After a while with visa problems i just got sick of it all and bailed. Don't get me wrong oz is great but if things don't work out you don't have any support networks.. no family, no dole.. you can end up in a place you don't want to be quickly. But nothing ventured nothing gained and there are so many success stories. Just saying be under no illusions that all!!

i was there(early thank god so no queing)thought it was a rip off...wasnt what was expected...basically it was visa companies flogging visa's,recruitment agencies building a database so they have people ready IF they need them, osbourne recruitment were straight up about it in fairness and said so!all other info is available online.

I think that is more or less the story everywhere. Here in Switzerland, there is bit of a boom going on in the construction industry, but they are only interested in qualified skilled labour. If you've served your time and got all the documentation from Ireland, you can take it along to the education authorities who will certified as being equal to the Swiss standards and your on your way. If not then they are not interested in you.

    Jim.

I didn't go this time, but i don't get this, 'not what i wa expecting', as all the exhibitors were published online before hand, so i knew that there was nothing there for me, where as previoulsy when I did go, not only did i know who was going to be there but also which ones were relevant for me.

i went and it was a rip off

Stood in line for a hour in the pising rain
    Car got clamped
    Tire went flat
    Some bloody day!

All the info is on their websites, the amount of people there was ridiculous and i said they made a complete fortune. You couldnt move with the people there

Thats where I have ended up. Its okay. Work week isnt that bad mine is 42 hours though it may vary from canton to canton, but like alot of places theres a balance with these things they don't mind ye popping away early now again as long as you dont miss anything crucial and your not doing it all the time. Salarys are quite good about 30 to 40% more then back home but then the cost of living is a lot more. For a one bed apartment in a half decent area expect to pay in the region of 1200 Euro a month.

    You are not far wrong.

The media in Ireland have not a clue when it comes to Australia, they over sensationalise the whole immigration to Australia thing as if tens of thousands of Irish people are migrating to Australia.

Load of absolute rubbish there was only 3700 Irish people migrated to Australia last year, this year I would expect it to be no more than 4000-4500.

I suspect the media are counting Working Holiday Visas which would account for the big discrepancy.

Yeah I know that why I said they over sensationalise it.

WHV is a nothing more than a holiday visa, it's same thing as saying someone is migrating to Santa Ponsa for 2 weeks in July.
