Loop Pedals

Never had one. The only thing I've actually played around with is a DD-6 with the Hold function. Realistically, what's the big difference in getting something like an RC-2 and RC-20 or 50? And does it justify the price difference? Or is Boss just not the way to go here? Gonna be budget shopping here too...

I picked up an Akai Headrush pedal last night, its good fun. Has some nice delays as well as the loop functions, I'd say the Boss pedals probably have longer loop time though, compare the specs and see what suits you. PS Music Maker have a sale starting today, might be worth getting some prices from them if you're about Dublin.

Boss RC-2 is the best buy here I reckon. I bought one and it's the best thing I've ever bought. Really don't see the need for the bigger things at all.

I have a question about this too. I have the line 6 m13 multi effects board and there is a loop function on it. You can only take off the last loop you put into it. Is there any pedals you can get where you can for example play chords, then tap a drum beat, then a kinda bass line then a riff and after the riff you want to take off the drum beat only (or take off a different loop to the last one) but keeping the others?

Another headrush owner here. Great pedal but recording time is a little short on it. Great for jamming though. I'd recommend the big line6 delay/looper. Think its a dl4?

I think thats a feature of all the loop pedals built as loop pedals if that makes sense? I could be wrong there though. The RC-50 definitely does that anyways

I have the DM4... The distortion modeler and I love it, but I already have a delay and it wouldn't even nearly have all the features of a loop pedal... If I'm getting one I might as well do it right!

I'm looking at getting either the Digitech Jamman or the Boss RC20 sometime soon. I'm thinking the 2 pedal ones will have a bit more functionality and I believe they have inputs for more pedals too. I'm not thinking of using one live but I think it'll be great for practicing stuff and writing. The ability to write a progression and then solo over it should help my improv a good deal.

I agree with Clutchlt, Boss RC2, does it all and plenty of recording time. Only thing is it does seem to suck a bit of tone from the guitar even in bypass. Im thinking of some kind of switch system to bypass the rc2 completely when playing over a loop. Anybody done this?

Would you not look into getting Ableton Live and an audio interface?

    +1 for the Jamman.

2 foot switchs make life easier and much more improtantly imo, 99 banks for loops instead of 9 with the Boss.
