Are you barred in Ireland from practising law if you have a criminal record?

Yes and no. It depends on what the convictions are.

Are undischarged bankrupts still prohibited from practising law ?

They are prohibited from becoming solicitors.

The Bar Council code of conduct does not prohibit bankrupts from practice though on entry to the King's Inns the question is asked. I think the benchers might look at the facts behind the bankruptcy to see if the person is suitable to be called to the bar.
