    Hi Guys,
Im new to golf and have no idea how to calculate 'points' for a round.
To be honest i dont even know what system is used, or what its called.

So does anyone know what system most people in ireland in golf societies use to calculate points, and how it works?

I say 'most people', meaning anyone i've spoken to who plays a bit, but not much, would say - 'I played well, i hit 36 points etc.'

    What system would this be?
    Thanks
    John

This system is known as Stableford, and the way that you calculate it is by hoe many strokes you had and what your handicap is!
    Hope this helped

adding a linkTake your nett score, which is the score you have after applying your handicap. and score as follows,

Nett double bogey or higher no points
    Nett bogey = 1 point
    Nett par = 2 points
    Nett birdie = 3 points
    Nett eagle = 4 points
    Nett albatross = 5 points
Nett what comes after that = 3 hail mary's, one our father, and a glory be to the father

and tot them up for 18 holes.

Should you have more than an 18 handicap for example if you had a 24 handicap, you would use the indexes of the hole to gain more nett shots in other words you would have two shots to nett on the holes which were indexed 1 to 6.
