Wonder can you record these and watch them back at your leisure?

upc box won't let you look at recordings from channels ,that you aren't subscribed to.

Might be the same for sky

Only over the weekend of the offer, but after the offer is over, when you go to watch a recording all you'll get is a message saying "you must upgrade your package..ring xxxxxxxxxxx..."

during the recent free sky sports offer I recorded something and I can still watch it now. May not apply to movies though seeing as they are sneaky like that.

I believe you can record and watch after where freeviews are concerned.

This is the second time Sky has ran this promotion. You can record these and watch them after the promotion, and I had no problems with the EPG and scheduling recordings the last time.

you can only ever watch recordings that are from channels you are currently subscribed to

it works both ways, you can record programs that are on channels you are not subscribed to now, and then watch them after you have subscribed (ie record a load of movies over several months, then subscribe for a month to watch them.)

Looks like they're padding the schedule with a lot of older films, but would be worth a look for Gran Torino and Season 3 of the Clone Wars.

UPC don't have sky movies showcase which is the only channel involved in the free weekend.

Both. Obviously you'll need a HD subscription to watch the HD channel :)

The bit about the HD sub to watch the HD channel is not true, a few weeks ago Sky Sports was available for the weekend and I could see the HD version even though I didn't have a HD sub...

The choice of films isn't great for a Free weekend which I assume is for Sky to show off their move channels.

You'll be able to watch the films live on the Sky Player too.

According to the UPC add currently running on TV they have all our favourite channels,Another case of false advertising ignored.

They seem to have most of the Movie Channels but not Showcase. I know Virgin have access to the Free Weekend in the UK, if UPC had the channel ye probably could of had access to it.

Never found sky movies to be that great as a whole. Lot of films are very heavily rotated. If you already have sky sports then the extra tenner or so for the movies aswell is probably worth it. But €28 per month for movies alone? Far better value signing up to a DVD postal service like Screenclick or OnlineDVDrentals.
