This could be the complete wrong place, but didn't know what section it fitted into.

I have a private well supply of water, there is a lot of iron in it, my friend pointed out that this could be bad for health! I looked it up and it seems ok, as long as there are no harmful Iron compounds.

It got me thinking though, is there anywhere you can send a water sample off to and they run tests on it for bacteria, compounds which may be bad for you etc.

It doesn't seem to have done me much harm over the last 25 years, but just curious in case there is something bad in there! Saw a kit online for €85, but that seems a bit pricey! If anyone has a way of doing this I could wire them a few quid via paypal if the could do it for me!

You could try calling the public health/environmental health services in your county. We are on mainline water back home, but informed them of a potential metal tox issue years ago and they came and tested the water for no charge. Not sure if that would be the case for a private water supply but its worth asking.
