Moving down the country

    Hello everyone,
First off, I had no idea where to post this, cos I want to remain anonymous, and there aren't many forums where you can go unreg.

Basically, I am looking to move down the country. I am looking to buy a house and would love one with a bit of land as I keep a lot of animals, and the majority of these houses are down the country- Dublin prices for a house like this would be too expensive also.
The only problem is that I have always worked in Dublin, in office jobs in big companies (currently working in the online industry) and there seems to be very little work like this outside of Dublin.
So I am thinking of doing a course in something which will enable me to be less restricted about where I can live. I was thinking of doing web design or maybe dog grooming or similar as I love the internet and design, and also I love animals.
Can anyone else suggest any careers where I won't be restricted to working in Dublin? I have worked in hotels and retail before and they're not for me.

    Thanks

    Hi jackabox,

Why not go freelancing? Is your job something that you could do from home as a freelancer?

I left Dublin myself 3 years ago. Hubby is a West Corkman and he kinda wanted to move back home. So we left the capital and bought a house here.

Problem is, he's still working in Dublin (commuting every weekend) because he could not get a job in the country (works in Telecoms).

As for me, since I could not get a single job in the country, I decided to go freelancing (which went pear-shaped afterwards for different reasons, maternity leave...)

Anyway, I do not know what you do exactly for a living, but maybe this is something you could look into...

    All the best,
    DFG

You seem to have a very stereotypical view of the country, everything you see in Dublin goes on outside it also. Just in smaller quantities and often for considerably lower wages.
