Acer Aspire 5734Z V Dell Inspiron 15

My mother is buying a cheap laptop at the moment, she is planning on spending 400-500 and the two I can find which seem decent are the Acer Aspire 5734Z with 320gb HD and 3gb of RAM from Currys with a (I think) 2.30GHz Intel Pentium Processor T4500 or go with the Dell Inspiron 15 with the 250GB HD, 2GB Ram and a 2.20Ghz intel Celeron 900.

I am not sure which processor is better really, she would mainly be using it for everyday tasks like browsing but with some word processing. I have no experience with Acer either and wether they are reliable. Any Suggestions would be very much appreciated!

T4500 is better by a large margin. The Currys laptop seems better in nearly every way, and you get real people to scream at in case of a problem rather than a 'tech support on hold' machine.

You're comparing 2 completely different specs so the comparison is unfair. The Dell Inspiron 15 with a similar hardware spec (T4500, 3GB RAM, 320GB drive etc.) to the Acer is here. You also haven't mentioned the price of either of the laptops so again comparison/advice is difficult.

The acer is on sale at curry's at 499, the Dell mentioned is 479. It definitely seems like the Acer is the better value, although from browsing the currys website I found this Advent Sienna 300 with a i3 processor, which I believe to be superior to the Intel Pentium Dual Core, but it has 2gb of ram which is less than the Acers 3gb. Link to the advent is here http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/advent-sienna-300-04868401-pdt.html and the link to the acer is here http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/acer-aspire-5734z-06539249-pdt.html

Any Opinions? I have never heard of Advent @_@
