Integrated Headsets Yay or Nay?

I'm about to launch into a bike building project and obviously want the thing to last and Headsets are the area I know least about.
According Chris King integrated are bad, but is this an unnecessary worry? Has anyone ever experience damage to the headtube as a result of integrated headsets or a even shortened lifespan.

I want the bike to last quite a long time and standard or internal (intellaset) seem the better engineering solution. But does it really matter?

The type of headset will be dictated by the type of frame you have. Do you have a frame/fork yet?

No frame or fork just yet.

Have had bikes with integrated or internal headsets for the last 8 years or so - never had a problem due to the design, only thing that's ever needed doing is replacing worn bearings and that's par for the course regardless of headset type

The article you linked to explains it pretty well. Performance wise, theres no real difference between the different types. Really depends on the Frame you get.
