Double header in Croker for the Dublin footballers v Cork and hurlers v Tipp.

The cash cow mooooooooooooos again

For a change though, I'm looking forward to this one as the footballers will be out for revenge and it'll be a good early test for our hurlers.

Disgraceful if we have to play these games away from home ;)

Looks like a good day alright, but maybe they will have the good sense to have it in Parnell Park. Of course this is the GAA, so good sense may well be in short supply.

Had heard this being mooted a couple of weeks ago, not a hope in hell it'll be played in the Nell.

Well if a good crowd of Football and Hurling Dubs come out and Cork fans don't go into travel moan mode and Tipperary send a good representation of fans, then Parnell Park wouldn't be big enough. It still would be a small crowd in Croke Park, unless of course the GAA go full out and market it. It is an interesting double header and promoted properly it could bring a crowd in, but we'll wait and see. It probably will end up in Croke Park but they'll have to put the effort in to get the crowds out from all 3 counties.

I'm sure Dublin are looking forward to playing Armagh under lights - probably as the official opening match of the Athletic Grounds. Armaghs record under lights is very, very poor.
Armagh will probably hope that the Athletic Grounds is not ready for that match and get the game played in Crossmaglen on the Sunday afternoon.

4 away games for Meath  We've only won one away game for a few years now.
Not too bad though with short enough trips to Newbridge and Portlaoise and trips to Belfast and Derry. Never been in Celtic Park before :D

Quite disappointed with our away fixtures tbh.I was hoping to be on the road to some nice places like Killarney again for the Kerry game and stay in Westport for the Mayo game if we were playing them in Castlebar.I guess Galway will be a good weekend away.

Cork could be a good weekend outing for the hurlers.Otherwise no real weekend stays that could stand out.

You don't know how sickening it is to see Limerick in division 2 :o
But first match against Clare in Cusack Park.
That's abit of a must win alright.
It won't be even known for a while what's the state of the team so nothing can be said for sure about if we've even a chance like.
    :/

Tipperary are in the same divisions in both football and hurling as Waterford, Wexford and Offaly and yet they couldn't arrange one double header amongst the 6 fixtures. That's just pure stupid.

EDIT: Additionally we are at home to Wexford in both codes, yet both games are fixed two weeks apart.

Are these fixtures correct? If so, it means kilkenny will play away to Dublin and away to tipp for the 2nd year in a row...seems a bit strange...not sure about playing games under lights in February either, probably works ok in football but hurling is a bit different. Hopefully there is no snow this year.

from a spectators point of view i think its easier to see games under lights as its white on black. Sliothar blends in too much with the sky during the day

In fairness we were due to play both Kerry and Mayo at home having played them away this year, and indeed Mayo away in 2008 too.

It will be interesting to see how Down respond this year in division 1. Could set the tone for their whole year.
