    Andy G,

I am shocked you locked my thread. For your information, I bought a M14 from sgairsoft and they have a "no refund" your money policy. Therefore, I can only exchange the M14 for another gun from their shop! Believe me I would like to shop around more if I can as I have only got into the airsoft game 2 weeks ago for the very first time. In fact I only signed up the Boards.ie 2 days for the very first time. So I am wondering how do you have the power to lock people up? I am a 40 something male who is in the medical profession and have no retail connection whatsoever. Who gives you the power pre-judge or guess other people's motives without enquiring first?

I am asking you an honest and sincere question. Please don't pre-judge me anymore.

andy g is a moderator (rule enforcer) on this forum and that comes with the power to lock threads and ban users,,,,,, i would say at a guess he pre-judged you based on your "sgairsoft this" and "sgairsoft that" style of posting.

As thermo mentioned above. The posting style that you used is very similiar to accounts used to shill or try advertise a company free of charge.
Other than that welcome to the hobby/sport of airsoft. I would suggest however that you pm me and we can resolve this as its not relevent to the airsoft questions sub forum

He mentioned the company in question twice and not in all posts. He is clearly a newbie. Didnt deserve to be thread locked. I dont think this warrants any sort of reprimand. Im voicing an opinion here, which I believe the charter hasnt banned yet. I dont believe this requires reprimanding either.

The user is still free to use all aspects of the of the site and has not been reprimanded apart from a thread lock as the shop mentioned has a thread here.

    Hi Andy,
No need to PM. There is nothing to resolve. I am a newcomer to boards.ie and airsoft hobby. I didn't realize by mentioning a specific shop can get such a response. If I had mention the other shop that I was talking to it might of made my thread more credible.

I do regret buying the M14 too quickly without thinking and now I am bound by honour to exchange it for another gun within the same shop. This will teach me a lesson ! I can only blame myself.

    best regards,

    P.

Don't necessarily be too quick to ditch the M14. They're supposed to be a ton of fun to fire, and although you'll have a lot less ammo than some people, sniper players carry the same or less and have to work their bolt after every shot, which you won't.

It'll restrict you to a particular play style, or make you less effective in a general role, but that doesn't mean it's impossible if you're willing to put in the time and effort to get good at playing that way. The gun will take more work in terms of cleaning, gassing, fiddling the power output depending on the ambient temperature and so on, but don't go thinking you've bought a total display piece, because you absolutely could play with it.

That said, all things being equal the common wisdom is always to recommend an electric gun to beginners. That's not to say all beginners start with one though!

What exactly drew you to the M14 in particular? I'm just asking because I actually want one and can't afford to go out and buy one. I might be willing (if the mods don't smite me for my off topic, not in Adverts insolence) to trade my G36 battle rifle plus all the stuff I have for it. Mods allowing I can PM you about it.

Personally though, I'm with Shane on this one, pick up a couple of mags and give it a try, just don't expect it to play like a lipo.

    Hi stonewolf and evilrobotshane,

Thank you for your advice. The WE M14 is a beautiful gun I will admit. Being a biginner to airsoft a GBB is not really an ideal gun to start of with. I was looking at a SRC G36 with a drum that can hold 2500 BBs! What is your G36 brand stonewolf?

By the way, how do you send PM on boards.ie? Once I know how I can PM you. By the way I already returned the M14 today to the shop and I have ordered a LY M4A1 all metal rifle for today at lunch time as an exchange. But I can still change my mind. If I keep the M14 I should really invest CO2 magazines which are in short supply at the moment.

If you click on someones username it should give you a little drop down list and one of the options is to send a PM. Also up at the top of your screen where it says "Welcome, <username>" you should see a little link to your PM controls.

If you've given it back then never mind, it was just a suggestion as it seemed you felt locked into exchanging with the guys who sold it to you.

The WE M14 is indeed a fantastic airsoft gun and it's a shame you decided not to keep it. You're right that a GBB is not a good beginner gun though.

Remember that volume of BBs and overwhelming rate of fire isn't everything. For instance, I use an 8.4v nickle battery and generally take to a skirmish one 140rd midcap (120 rounds), 3 50rd midcaps (about 48 rounds each) and 6 30rd realcaps (about 24 rounds each) for a total of about 400 rounds. I can make that stretch a whole day if I need to but generally I'll reload at lunch. This doesn't make me any more or less effective than anyone else, it just means I have a different playstyle, I like to work with other people on the team, flank the enemy, pick my targets and use tactics (badly) to achieve success. I think my playstyle is more fun than two teams lining up and spraying each other with little plastic balls but you may differ.

    Hey Stonewolf,

I did what you said about clicking your username but ony 2 options popped up. There was no PM option?

When you are logged into boards, click on a person's name and the PM function is the second option down.

This thread is not what this sub forum is about. It is for questions relating to airsoft, no how the forum is moderated.

If you have any issues like this in future stick to PM only.

    Thread closed.
