    im thinking about getting a 3 year old gordon setter, i have a 4 year old son and just want to make sure that the setter is good around young kids most websites say that they are but if anyone has a setter and kids your advise would help make up my mind

    The major problem is not the breed. It would be better to know if the specific dog that you are willing to take has ever been socialized with kids.
    If the dog was brought up in a house with kids, than there should be no problem; but if the dog has never seen kids (or reraly) in his/her life, than you could have some problems.
    Having said that, it's not impossible to socialise dogs and kids at an "older" age, it just require patience and a very carefull supervition.
