The perfect runs

Just had one of those great/fantastic/mind-blowing runs tonight.

When you finish faster then you start.
    Where you love every step.
When you want to fling your hands in the air and shout "I f**king love running"
When you feel like you could run forever and never get tired
When you remember why you feel in love with running in the first place

These runs don't happen often but when they do there's almost nothing better.

Trying to figure out whether to drive myself crazy figuring what I did differently this time or enjoy the after glow!

I've had those too from time to time. I head out and I just don't want to stop as I'm feeling so good. I'd love to know what the secret is to feeling that way. For example I was out for a jog earlier and it was a fairly hard slog.

The euphoria run/jog seemed a distant memory to me tonight.

Enjoy the feeling though. I love just sitting there after the event and enjoying the positive feeling coursing throughout my body and mind.

Just enjoy it. Its a rare feeling indeed and you'll probably just wreck your head thinking about how to replicate it more often. Enjoy it, remember it and use it as motivation for the runs that come along and feel like crap.

Just had one of those runs tonight aswell.
There were Nice Biscuits and Butlers chocolates in the office this evening and I had several of each just before going out running. I Guess that must have been the reason :D

What a timely thread! Busted my ass on a really tough session yesterday, at the end of a great autumn day. Felt on top of the world since, definitely on a high ever since. (My training partner Slogger Jogger said the same thing).

There's something in the air these days, its the best time of year to be running.

    Info on Runners High.

It's nice to run feeling strong like that all right. The Dublin half marathon was a bit like that for me, but recent training hasn't been though.

John Treacy said his World Cross win in Limerick was one of those days where he just felt unbeatable. Everything was just perfect for him. It happens sometimes I guess. Nice when it happens when running a world championships at home!

Kind of had a couple of these this week myself. Went out for a jog on Wednesday or Thursday of this week and fecking struggled big time. It was really annoying as I was used to the pace, distance and duration but I was just finding it really hard. I didn't feel exhausted, I just had heavy legs and no energy. I was feeling frustrated afterwards.

But I went out again yesterday morning and it felt good and I felt very good for quite a while afterwards.

Today I went out and it felt even better today. The first 5-10 minutes were the toughest. It seems to take me a while to get my breathing and speed sorted and to feel comfortable. But the last 10 minutes started to feel really good. For the last 3 minutes I pushed the pace quite a bit and I felt great. I wished I'd done so sooner. I'm still feeling good now 5 or 6 hours later.
