Has anyone taken them today or is anyone taking them tomorrow?

    Have mine tomorrow.

Does anyone know the marking? I was told by someone I work with that the maths don't count towards scoring at all, although you do need a minimum of 8 questions correct.

Maths was my strong one! Does it not count at all towards marks, bit silly then no?

    I'm not doing the exams.

You have to pass the Numerical test. The person you work with couldn't possibly know that you only have get 8 correct to pass the maths. Basically, you don't get any extra marks for the Numerical whether you get them all correct or just barely pass.

So in answer to your question, you need to pass so it does count towards your marks. But it doesn't matter whether you barely pass or get all the numerical correct.

This should be all explained in the familiarisation material, you should read it.

How did you hear about this? I'd love to get into the civil service but this all seems to be hush hush, behind closed doors.

AFAIK there is an embargo on hiring in the public sector bar a few exceptions.

I presume this is an internal competition.

Denerick, if you want to get into the Civil Service, register with www.publicjobs.ie and ask for reminders of competitions. You can do all this online. Open competitions are not behind closed doors and the selection process is trasparent and fair. If I were you, I'd check www.publicjobs.ie every day to be sure you don't miss anything.

There is an embargo on at the moment but some vacancies are being filled subject to approval from the Minister for Finance so you may have some competitions you can apply for in the future.
