So i passed today with flying colors first time,(saweet),
My question is, is it ok to drive about tonight without L plates,
and a qualified accompanied driver? Technically i still am on a learner permit.
I will bring the certificate with me.

one more thing, on my certificate the tester put an X on the category that i passed (B) however he did'nt mark the (W) work vehicles, as in a tractor. he said it is important that i don't write anything on the cert( porbably to stop fruad) but if i give the cert into the tax office to get my full licence, will it come out with a (w) qualification aswell as the normal (B)?

Technically you don't have the full licence. I don't think you would find a Garda who minds.
These days they will just put the B on the licence.

My certificate only had a B marked as passed. I ticked the boxes B &W on the application and got my licence with categories B & W on it. (I actually had a thread asking if i can do that)

well youve probably gotten your licence by now:confused: but for anyone else reading this, the local authority who issue the licence will give you any category that your entitled to...........assuming you ask them of course. well done

That must be the 1 in a million case where common sense was actually used! What garda would prosecute for driving on your own after passing teh test???

When I passed my driving test 2 years ago I left L plates up but drove around on my own for the day or two it took to get my licence. I just made a copy of cert and kept it in car. If you have to drive on your own ( you have been deemed to be fit to do this by a RSA official) then this would be a help if you were stopped.

I know a Garda and he said that it is a grey area but most of them use commen sense and leaway is used.

I mean he said it is amazing that there are still people who do not even carry their driver's license with them nowdays when you have too. It is not hard to leave it in the car or your wallet/bag.
