Paint for murals??

Hi all, Posted this on the art thread but thought i would try here too. I am going to paint a mural on a sheltered external wall. Was hoping you folks could recommend what type of paint would be most suitable. Particularly for the black outlines (mural is of cartoon characters). Thanks.

acrylic or spay cans is what we used once and it was fine,also went to boot sales and got old exterior paint and begged for leftovers....Had no problem till children out grew the design......Best of luck with it.....Also If you knew a art student maybe they could advise also....
