why are stoves and everything got to do with them so dam expensive

its so annoying how expensive stoves,piping,angles etc are these days

they are the same price if not more expensive of the one's from the boom days

can any one tell me if it would be worth the investment of getting a stove that burns solid fuels

stoves and plumbing hardware are very expensive.
go to northern ireland and buy both as i did saved a fortune.
the size of fittings are slightly different but that did not bother me one bit.
plumber told me get a few extra just in case.
stove i bought was E1700 in rep north cost £1000 also they included 6mts of twin wall stainless steel multi flue and stainless rain cap beat that and delivered to my door(donegal).
total cost of every thing paying plumber pipes stove etcetc just under E1500.
stove is a gem loads of hot water and rads good and warm also.
go north even now with sterling than when i done mine its still cheaper.

find this hard to believe, new to boards? would like the name and companys you got these prices!
work in the industry myself and to be honest 2yr ago prices were abit like you have said, but not as much now and were near the border, and know the prices,
op yes unfortunately stove flues can be quite costly, but shop around, but good quality stove pipe is worth it in the end!!

iv been shopping around and every place is givin me a price if about 700 euro for jus the pipe an i only need around 4 metres
can any one give a link for a good place to get a good cheap stove an pipe

Flue sounds expensive to me.

I tend to use a supplier for stoves and flue in Ballinasloe area.

However shop around as delivery/ collection cost might effect overal costings.

As you said the flue fittings and elbows and cowls can work out expensive, but I find that if you buy stove and flue in same place you might get a better deal.

stove and flue and liner cowel all got in linton and robisons strabane.
got best price of the net took to them and they matched.

Bought a range and a flue from Alan Gordon this time last year. Couldn't have been happier with the price. Had scoured the North for prices and Alan matched them. He even threw in the Flue Adaptors and single wall flue for free. He also delivered to leitrim for me.

always remember many stoves being sold are c*ap made in china of scrap cast iron will never fail to disapoint and leak some terrible examples omyberyl,hamco to name two but be aware lots are out there.
look at figures of max and nominal ratings also as this is also misleading.
without doubt he scandanivan are the best out there for quality but pricey and made mainly for wood ,proper dried.
best compromise is many of british stoves made in eu and pressure tested and come with cert of conformity i got straford arrow 20seb superb stove.
just be carefull lots of rubbish out there ask where it made!!

the price is for around five metres of twin wall flue all the fixings to fix it to the wall and 45 angle piese i think thats all im not sure

sorry i may have got to say,the flue i got is twin wall flexi which fitted into my existing chimney where my orignal back boiler chimney was.
plumber advised this as there will be no void for soot build up.
it was six inch and goes from top of chimney pot to back of stove.
it cost £20 per mt or close to that.
