iphone 4 (Vodafone) Transferring Contract

So I bought an iphone 4 on contract with vodafone end July. I have just been given a mobile phone by the company I work for 2 weeks ago so I no longer need the iphone or the bill that goes with it. I rang Vodafone and asked how much it would cost me to pay out my contract. He quoted €860.(I paid a €200 deposit in July).I can't justify paying this. He mentioned that I could transfer my contract to a new or existing number and pass it off to another person. Just wondering has anyone heard of this before. If I put an ad in Adverts offering iphone 4 for free if you take on my contract how do ye think it would be recieved. I started on the €60 a month package which can be changed to €45 package or higher package by end of January. Any opinions on the cheapest way out of this? Thanks.

Yeah Adverts sounds like a good bet. The 4 goes for €149 or €249 on that plan so you'll surely find a taker.
