    Hi,

    How does VRT work if you live in England,
    do you have to live in Ireland, or does the car have to be in Ireland,
    for a year before you can sell it?

    You need to own it for 6 months while living outside Ireland and have documentation to support this. You then cant sell the car for 1 year from the time you import it.

    As above.

    IMO if you do happen to be working overseas for a period of time then it is a great idea to import.

    At the very least you might get a year or two of depreciation free motoring and at best make a nice profit.

    So from the date of registration, its then 12 months to sale time...
    hmm, that really takes the juice out of it doesn't it!
