Just wondering how many of you out there listen to it? Since I returned to work from my holidays I've being listening to it everyday and have to say Irish stations doesn't hold a candle to it mainly for its professionalism I just really got sick of listening to chat shows on our own national & local stations.
So anyone know if the station can be contacted from the island of Ireland by text message because I tried the number and it doesn't seem to work unless am doing it wrong?

Your definetly not alone. Easily the best youth station out there by a mile. If more people actually knew how easy it is to listen in Ireland it could easily increase audience here. I-player makes it so easy to catch up online and a fair chunk of the northern half of the country seems to get R1 loud and clear in the car.

I guess though in defence of Irish stations as in the UK to an extent, commercial radio can't take the same risks with specialist output. If Lady Gaga keeps the lights on commercial stations cant be blamed for playing it probably.

For me Moyles,Greg James, Zane Lowe, Sara Cox and Jo Whiley are probably the best listens.

Never seen a international text number but I guess a email would do the job too?

I'm well outside their demographic these days but I've been listening to R1 since I was about 12 (tape recorder at the ready).
I continue to listen to it a lot but find myself switching off during the day when the like of Fearne Cotton or some of the other dimwits take over. The playlist is finally losing me too, but I think that's just the way pop music goes.
Moyles is always worth a listen though and the specialist shows in the evenings and at weekends, especially the dance stuff is unparalled in terms of quality...
The lack of ads is a bonus and for the most part the DJs are inoffensive. The support they give to new music (even if it's not to my own tastes) is excellent...many a career has been launched on the back of one track getting airply on the daytime shows.
I dread the potential of any future switch over from FM to DAB cutting the spillover into the republic of any of the BBC stations and as I've said before on here, I'd sooner pay the £200 that the UK license costs than the €160 we pay here for such mediocre output.

I think Greg James & Chris Moyles do it for me, Cotton isn't too bad I love her 'morrrrrrrrrrrrrrrning' intro lol plus shes hotter than Coxy.
True it seems UK residence are getting full value for their license yet the whole of Ireland can receive these tv channels free via the dish.

She's (Cotton) a poor replacement for Whiley IMO. Far too enthusiatic and everything's simply great (suppose that's her selling point).
I can't complain really, I'm too old for most of their daytime, but that I can still listen to it when I can't stand 90% of the output of daytime Irish music radio says a lot.

Dish is all very well but no use in the car or on the portable at work. Many UK license fee payers complain at the waste of money at the beeb...they don't know how good they have it AFAIC
