Problem with DTT in Cork area?

Does anyone know if there is currently a problem with the RTE DTT transmission in Cork (Carrigaline area)? Our DTT channels (TV and radio) have simply disappeared since Monday of this week, with no change in the setup here. I'll try contacting RTE tomorrow for what it's worth...

Since Mon Mullaghanish appears to have increased power ouput and switched on the other three muxes. (see the Mullaghanish thread)

What transmitter were you receiving DTT from? Maybe that transmitter has been temporarily switched off.

Have you tried retuning? Mullaghanish's active DTT multiplexes are Ch. 21 & 24 with empty carriers on 25 & 28.

As the cush said Mullaghanish went full power on monday last so it is more than likley blowing away the transmitter you are currently tuned to. Its either spur hill or crosshaven. Retune to ch21 and 24 to get Mullaghanish, It is very strong at the moment.

Thanks guys. Problem solved. I had been holding off on retuning until someone gave me a good reason to do so (if it ain't broke, etc...)! I'd say the Crosshaven transmitter has been switched off so as we're quite near it. It just annoys me that RTE or Saorview don't appear to have made any attempt to notify people of the change.

Why would they notify anyone when they are only testing. Don't expect notification until they launch nationally next year.

Are you using Mullaghanish now? If so what the reception like?

Suspect I'm not picking up from Mullaghanish as if I go to the manual tunning option on the TV (tuner built in), digital channel 46 seems to be the only one that picks up the stations. Tried a few others (in the 20s etc) but there was nothing doing. This is all a bit over my head but I'm guessing I had been picking up from Crosshaven but now it's Spur Hill. Aerial consists of small rabbit ears. Funnily enough, previously the TV could pick up stations with just a flying coax lead connected (i.e. no proper aerial at all) which probably verifies that Crosshaven used to be the transmitter!

Since early yesterday Mullaghanish seems to have returned to low(er) power and one mux again. Did you check it prior to yesterday?

Last week, Crosshaven DTT moved from Ch 34 to Ch 46 (674 MHz) this is what you are receiving
It had been on 34 for a few months

The move is probably because Ch 46 would usually be picked up OK by existing 'Group C/D' aerial installations used for Crosshaven analogue 55,59,65
