Hi All, I vey very stupidly didnt check the oil level im my car and before the warning light for oil level came on de red one did and like 60 sec s later I have blown the engine!

Car now wont do any thin, and looks like I ll need to replace the engine...
Does any one know were I could get a reconditioned engine and wat type of money that would cost compared to new.. and is it worth the risk or should I just bite the bullet and fork out for a new..

Any advice would be most helpful.. I havent had much luck wit this car or any work I ve had to had completed on it either!

My friend had similar problem with 99 Golf, even the reason for engine damage was about the same,

Eventually it costed about 800e getting a second hand engine fitted, but the major problem was to find one.

She had to rent a van and drive to Sligo to get the engine, even Traynords did not had a engine to buy.

Get the engine code from the VIN plate in the engine bay. The engine code will have 3 letters at the start which denotes the version of engine your car needs.

Get a replacement engine from a scrappie, ring around for one with low mileage. Try to get a warranty, 6 months from sale is customary.

    Pay someone to fit it.

Or pay someone to do all of the above

    This is a mk4:
