Just booked parking for Halloween half term week. It is currently E10 per day to park in the Short term carpark. I know it is still slightly more expensive than the long term carparks but for sheer convenience and 75% saving on the full price, I think it is worth a bargain alert.

We are flying out at 7am with 3 young kids and I was dreading managing them, buggy and cases on the shuttle bus!

BTW, I booked on DAA website.

This link shows the advert for the offer. Maybe your dates are outside the range?

    http://www.dublinairport.com/

Just checked again for my dates and even though we only need 5 days, and advert says book for at least 6 days, it is still charging only E50!

If you take a ticket from the machine at the barrier and enter and stay for under an hour, its a flat rate charge of 3 euro per hour, after that it increases i think.
But in answer to your question, if under the hour it will be 3 euro even if you only park for 1 minute or 59 minutes.

Not sure how it's handier than the longterm. At least with the longterm you get a bus right up to the front door of departures.

Free shuttle bus from Radisson as well, drops ya in same place as long term bus, plus if you are flying Ryanair with no bags its not that long a walk.
