Hello. I'm currently in final year of my degree. Just wondering does anyone know can I apply for the next JET program intake (for next september) or do I have to wait until the 2012 intake. I don't want to have to sit around for a year waiting to apply if it's the 2012 intake. I think I graduate early September 2011. Many Thanks

All the information you need is readily available online. Googe is your friend. If you have specific questions about the application process or life in Japan I am sure posters will be happy to respond.

First impressions can be misleading but to be honest if you're going to post on boards asking other people where to find the information instead of looking for yourself you're probably not the kind of person the programme is looking for. At least not the kind of person I want to see on it. Hopefully I'm way off.

Candidate for the most unhelpful post of the year? OP asked for advise. 'Google it' is not advice. If you know something about the program, why not help the OP out?

OP, I think the JET application process closes sometime in December. You need to get your stuff rolling now as the medical will take you a while to get done (if you're doing it for free in college) and it's a fairly substantial application.

It's got a reputation as a very good program. Don't know anyone that did it (except George Lee :) and he said it was great!) but it seems very well put together. Was half thinking of doing it myself but didn't have my application together before the deadline. If TEFL positions in East Asia atm are any indicator, i'd say it'll be very competitive this year, so yuo'd want to get cracking now.

They JET people held a talk for us in DCU this past OCtober, so check with the career service in your college and see if they're holding one with you. Most of the information regarding the program including the application form can be found on the Japanese embassy website so have a look there

That's brilliant thanks a million. I'd best just call the embassy and hear it straight from them. Thanks for your help :)

    Found this just now

    http://www.ie.emb-japan.go.jp/JET+Application.htm

Just thought I'd stick this up for anyone who is interested when the talks are on in their college.

When you type "JET Programme Ireland" into Google and hit search the first result is a link to the webpage for the Embassy of Japan in Ireland. The second result is a link to the embassy's page directly relating to JET. With this in mind, I think telling someone to google the information is pretty good direction. If they can't manage this simple task to get the ball rolling life overseas in Japan might be a tad difficult, nevermind getting through the application process in the first place.
