Is it just me or am I buying crappy unsealable envelopes?

Every brown envelope since about 2 years ago now. It's very annoying.

I have a fear that all my post is going to slip out and get lost.

...and yes I tried licking it.

I always staple the 4 corners of the envelope once the letter is in.

Brown envelopes used to be more stickable during the Celtic Tiger years. These days, as no-one uses them to put money in to give to politicians, it's not so important.

You have to lick them for the adhesive to bond.

    Read the instructions.

Yeah but I have no sellotape. They already have some shiny stuff on it, why not just make it more sticky.

    Cheapskates....

Unfortunately I think it is your salivia that is substandard.. definately a visit to the dentist is in order and I am sure the problem can be solved with some serious brushing, gargling and oral hygeine... x

Have the same problem with my missus.... the more you lick it the harder it is to hold down.

That's strange. Licking things usually gives good results.

Just fold the flap into the envelope. Post carriers can't read.

Do not send cash this way.

When people get older their mouths produce less saliva.

Just spend an extra few cents and buy the glued envelopes you pull of a strip of plastic and glue it shut no need for licking

I licked an envelope today and it didn't seal. I had to sellotape shut. I got a papercut on my tongue in the process.

I find that leaving envelopes in direct sunlight screws up the adhesive qualities, so you should put them where the sun don't shine.

Try licking an envelope with the middle to back of your tongue. It tastes even more mank.
