Hello. Im working with a production company at the moment and are shooting a film in Galway next month. I just have a quick question on sponsorship. Who is willing to give sponsorship for a feature length film? I wrote this e-mail and just want to get a list together of people and companies I should get in contact with..

    Any Ideas?

    Hello Sir/ Madam,
I am writing to you on behalf of our Galway-based media production company, xxxxxxxxxxxx. We are a company whose business is that of developing, making and producing television films and motion pictures, carrying on the business of theatre proprietors, leases and managers and, in particular, providing for the production, representation and performances of stage plays and operas. We also have the ability to sell and distribute television films, motion picture and audio visual products of every kind.

At the moment we are currently in production of a feature film we are shooting here in Galway, Ireland. It is a low budget film called “xxxxx” ( for more information please visit http://www.xxxxxxx.ie ).
As this company receives no external funding, we rely heavily on generous donations and sponsorship. I am writing to you to enquire about possible sponsorship from your company. We would be more than happy to endorse your company by

1.Putting your logo on the front page and/or in an affiliates section on our website,
    2.Product placement within our film/s
3.A credit at the end of our film/s

I hope that we may be of some interest to you and I look forward to your response and possible business with you in the future.

If can not help us out this time our next project is will be shot next year. Its set in ireland during the civil war and based on the Liam O'Flaherty short story "The Sniper" ( http://www.classicshorts.com/stories/sniper.html ) we could use your product in the making of our short film.

In effect, you can be sure you will be accredited extensively for your kind gesture.

    Regards,

If I was the MD of a big company. I would not see anything in this that would want to make me write a cheque. There are few details which would make me nervous. Is this movie a porn shoot? It is about vegetarian activists - which if my business was called SteaksUlike- would not go down well with the shareholders. It's a feature film with no stars and no funding (I know catch 22) which may lead to poor production values and a shoddily made movie is not one that my other company PremierDesignerPoshOverpricedJeans Ltd could be associated with.

I think the answer to your question lies within the script itself. Is this a story about someone who travels around the best views of Ireland (Suddenly Bord Failte springs to mind); is this a story about a man wanting to drive his car up a mountain (pick any 4X4 manufacturers). You get the idea. If there are well known names associated with it- then shout them loud- you may end up with a snowball effect- get one well known name on board leads to more etc.

I'd never talk about a different movie idea in a sponsorship approach - it may suggest a lack of focus and will seem desperate- when smooth professionalism is the message that is required.

I know this is not answering your question, but you need to up your game a little with the proposal. No criticism is intended. I think what you are doing is great but in a dog eat dog world- where sponsorship bucks are stretched thin in a recession- that you need to outshine your competitors
