Just reported on another forum that ITV4 will be showing Heineken cup highlights on Sunday 10th October from 9.00-10.00pm (same slot as their Aviva Premiership highlights) with a repeat later on ITV1.

RTE have the rights to show highlights (or a delayed broadcast of matches) so they might do something.

Great, will be able to see English sides for once.

Although I won't be able to record with Sky+ because ITV is an "Other Channel" which is a bummer.

    Only to matches involving Munster/Ulster/Leinster

ITV4's Prem highlights are always pretty good, hopefully this will be the same.
S4C also do H-Cup highlighs, but in Welsh :P

Deepest apologies. Have just discovered that someone made a mistake and this refers to ITV's Premiership Rugby highlights. At least S4C have a FTA highlights programme each HC weekend.

    Official news from ERC...

    http://www.ercrugby.com/eng/news/12458.php

Its great news for rugby fans in England and Scotland for whom there was no terrestrial coverage of the Heineken Cup at all for many years. (S4C is only available outside Wales on satellite, not Freeview or cable). Its a stupidly early slot (6:00pm) when most people won't be in from work, and its on ITV4, but its better than nothing. With digital switch-over now underway in the UK most British homes will have ITV4 now.

What would better would be a Sunday evening slot on ITV1, but that's not going to happen - the earliest they could give it would be the South Bank Show's old 23:30 slot as ITV hate to give up their Sunday prime-time for anything (they begrudginly had to do it for Formula 1 and not until after FOA gave them a slap on the wrists for showing a race on ITV2 at a time when most UK households didn't yet have the station).

Only problem will be if there's no repeat on 1TV1 those areas who are getting their DTT signal from relays and not main transmitters get only a 'Freeview Lite' service and this means no ITV4. This is where Freesat will score highly in such areas.
