Duties after death

After someone dies, a doctor has to certify them as dead. He produces a death certificate but who does he send it to? B,D & M office?

Who else has to be notified? National news paper? Others?

What obligation is there on 'next of kin' to inform other relatives?

How much effort is a solicitor expected to make in contacting will beneficiaries?

No one I know has died (TG); just wondering is all

I imagine the local coroner, to decide if post-mortem / coroner's hearing is needed. I suspec thte Garda is also notified.

More a matter for the family / estate.

Reasonable, but thorough, but perhaps not extreme.

As far as i know the cert is sent to family and they do all the rest, maybe it has changed though.

you won't be issued a certificate of death until the coroner has done a postmortem and a report.
you can be waiting months for the cert. depending on your location.
the undertaker usually looks after a lot of the radio and paper obituaries as far as i can remember.
