    Hi Guys,

Have been applying for numerous jobs over the last couple of weeks and haven't heard anything back from any of them! Is this happening to anyone else?

I know we're in tough times and people may not have time to reply to all the applications, but even a short email to say yay or nay wouldn't go astray.

As someone who has spent just over a year doing it, I would say to get used to it. I have pumped hundreds and hundreds of emails and letters into a black hole. And yes, apparently it is too much hassle to send a group PFO email to applicants. It's an employer's market and this seems to be standard treatment nowadays.

    Yes.

I've moaned here repeatedly with regards to this. Apparently anything resembling professionalism and manners has gone out the window, coz "we're in a recession, y'know".

    It's infuriating.

    100% agreed.

I have applied for quite a number of jobs in Australia too, you get confirmation that your application has been received and a PFO email afterwards too.

Id be happy with a PFO from an Irish company, just wont happen. Its not even that hard to setup an auto responder to jobs@url.ie for example

    Im sick of it :(

    +1

very same here Im afraid:(.Usually I'd be sending between 10-20 cvs per day.
some employers will send me automatic reply that ;your cv has been received and usual BS but there will be only a very few who would call me for an interview. The only thing I can do is to keep sending my cv them anyway in hope that it will maximize my chances of getting a lucky break:)

Yes from my experience I don't get any replies.

I get better response from agencies in the UK and mainland Europe, or Canada.

I would advise aswell as getting their email, get their phone number and a name if possible and ring them a few days later, and then every week or so after.

I have been told by many people that calls work in the end.

Today I got through to an employer and he told me that for a semi skilled position driving a forklift he had 300 applications. So, they get hundreds and probably thousands of CVs in the door.

    Personally I'm trying to emigrate.

    Good luck to you.
