What I find frustrating about this TV is that Argos are the only store to stock this particular Toshiba model, most likely an exclusive deal, so there is very little to no information regarding its quality. Granted it has a 1080p panel but then it only has 2 HDMI inputs, but if someone wants to chance their arm at getting this TV then so be it. I, on the other hand, would recommend anyone interested in this TV to at least find a review from a reputable site/magazine and/or some user feedback before parting with their money.

And OP, if this turns out to be a decent TV, then good find. ;)

Here is a link to the TV on Toshiba's website.

The manual say's it plays video files through USB which is handy.

As much as this is a good deal for a 32" tv with a 1080p panel, i think that just for most people who just a normal tv to use day to day, a better more mainstream 720p set(Samsung 32C450 comes to mind) that may cost a tiny bit more, would be the better buy long run

Not to mention the lack of a DTT tuner on the eve of the launch of our DTT, is a real kick in the teeth, for that reason, the 410€ samsung 32C530 is a better buy, not to mention the fact it would use a far better panel than this tosh, all IMHO of course...

What are Hdmi sockets for? Tried googling but there's some amount of waffle on the net about it.

    Layman's terms?

Also, does having a usb socket mean you can literally plug in your memory stick and play a movie/album, look at photos etc?

    Thanks,

    K.

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a digital connection that allows for both audio and video to be sent along one cable, instead of using a separate cable for video and another two for audio, like other connection types. The connector is small and the cables are cheap; provided you buy a basic cable and don't get caught up in the hype of 24K gold plating.

Generally DVD and Blu-ray players, HDTVs, a lot of computers and laptops and game consoles, e.g. Xbox 360 and PS3, use HDMI as standard as it provides a hassle-free setup. If you need more information then you can find it here.

Generally it does, but some TVs use a USB connection for firmware upgrades only.

Hmmm. Have a 32inch Mirai 720p I bought from Tesco three years ago. Reckon the difference would be noticeable? It's mostly used for Blu-Rays and console play.

1080p instead of 720p, at normal viewing distance, is allegedly indistinguishable on a screen of that size (or smaller).

I don't how how they compare in other areas (contrast ratio, panel quality, etc.)
