    Hi Folks,

I have a small business and import goods from UK, I am not registered for VAT as I have not reached the threshold.

As I do not have a VAT no. i pay UK VAT on purchases.
I have noticed on a recent invoice that the UK Co '' forgot '' to charge me the VAT.

I have a meeting with Accountant next week to settle 09 Tax due but would welcome a heads up on this situation before I discuss with him.

As I am approaching threshold I will be asking Acct. to register me for VAT from 1st Jan.

    Thanks for any advice

If you import >€41K worth of goods you must VAT register, as you are not VAT registered UK VAT would be payable. As you are not VAT registered this UK VAT will be a cost to you and you will not need to make any VAT returns
