Hi, just wondering if you disconnected the back boiler part of a stove ie just used it as a room heater would there be any issues with the stove?? Is it possible it would harm the stove?

As far as i am aware no... But what i would ask you is why you are doing this when its effectivly free hot water.

Reason i want to do it is because i want to add an oil boiler to the central heating system, stove is too small to heat house. A plumber told me to have both systems in parallel would require a new twin coil cylinder, and would be a costly job to do, was thinking of isolating stove and letting oil do all the water/central heating....

You will be surprised how little it actually costs extra to do what the plumber says.... I would not discount the idea without getting a couple of quotes...

Think about it...What you save on oil will pay for the conversion...

you will have a void of air/gas in the back boiler which could fill with fumes and ignite etc so safer to fill the boiler with sand or simialr

Another suggestion was to split up the central heating and hot water. have stove heat water and oil heat the rads... Any comments on this?

I would wondering would the water in cylinder not boil:confused:

you should go and get the twin coil hot water cyclinder insatalled,

have the stove plumbed to one coil in the cyclinder with a thermostat for the central heating pump,

install an oil bolier with a second pump, with a thermostat and timer,

this is the way we have the heating and it works fine,

There are more on forum !.
Have done it before and looks like I am about to do it again.
Stove needs to vent direct with usually 28mm pipe min to expansion tank.
Dual coil tank, 1 tank stat.
Use your Stove heat don't waste it.
Rgds. Save more energy by using LED lighting.
