The server in our company went down yesterday due to an XP PC that is connected. No one was near it at the time but the fault was traced to this machine. Message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    SYSTEM32\Drivers\isapnp.sys
Then goes on about 'R' repair..
I looked in the system32\driver folder for anything suspicious like strangely name file such as fxwyts.dll with 0k but all seemed in order. Looked at the event logs (cant believe it - just as I'm typing my laptop does a restart with no one near it! But that's not the PC at issue) Anywhooo...I've attached the logs and seek guidance.

I ran CCleaner and remove ~400Mib of stuff and its regfix utility and it found tons of stuff. Maybe that's all it needed??

Have you looked at this from Microsoft.

Thanks...had it up and running and then tried suggestion. Renamed the isapnp.sys file to .old but now can't extract new file from the cd.

Edit: Think I see what's wrong...that file is not on the original XP2 disk (did a search) I'll have to slipstream a XP3 disk first.

The Recovery Console wouldn't work...Prompt commands didn't help. Eventually removed the HD and out it into another PC and copied the file. I'm wondering now is it possible for the Recovery Console to be disabled?
Oh yeah...and the laptop was due to a change in laptop to Home/Desktop which altered the standby/shutdown modes (silly me!)

Hi are you getting the option on boot up for recovery console, if so i can charge you 40 via paypal lol! :D if you go into the C: root and display hidden files and folders look for the bootini.txt file just delete the Recovery console text.

    This should help.
