    Hi,

I just wondering what gross margin you would be looking for on household items e.g. bin bags, cleaning products, stationary etc.

Is it similar to food which you would be aiming for 30% plus?

    Thanks,

    S.

Lots of variables to consider. Is your location close to a supermarket or have you got the whole place to yourself?
Your products all come from different departments within the store. Cleaning products are quite price sensitive, so a lower margin is standard - especially with local competition. Bin bags - should easily take 50% on top of cost, and with stationary you should be at least getting back a third, but to be honest I'd be looking at a minimum of 50% profit on that, so double the cost.

    (Don't forget the vat ;))
