Sky Match Betting Challenge *Poll* Oct 2-3

Right so I've been thinking about this for a bit now. But let me explain what's wrong with this week

There are only 2 Sky Live EPL games this weekend which is once off due to the Ryder Cup. The games are Wigan vs Wolves and Chelsea vs Arsenal.

I'm not going to add the Chelsea vs Arsenal match to the poll for concerns echoed by a few people including myself in previous match challenge threads.

So for this week, I will add La Liga matches to this thread poll. There will be 2 matches, that being Valencia vs Bilbao and Sociedad vs Espanyol.

Not the most glamorous matches I know(though I personally look forward to the Valencia match and I fully believe it's no given for the home side).

Finally, all 3 games are on the Saturday.

What game will we cover? 10 votes

Wigan vs Wolves ( Sky Sports 2, 12.45PM)
    0% 0 votes
Real Sociedad vs Espanyol (Sky Sports 4, 7.00PM)
    100% 10 votes
Valencia vs Athletic Bilbao (Sky Sports 4, 9.00PM)
    0% 0 votes

I went for the Bilbao game as teams that play in a CL game midweek usually play with the effects of it quite visibly on their weekend games. Valencia will just have 3 days to rest after what should be a tough game against Utd. The Basques are a team that has impressed me a lot and are a hard side to break down. They haven't lost in their 2 away games and could get a result against a possible tired Valencia team.

Interesting and good choices. Gone for the Valencia - Bilbao one myself, a fascinating game which should have some decent markets.

Valencia v Bilbao will be a very good game, imo. Certainly more interesting than Wigan V Wolves.

Valenica v Bilbao for sure. I think that will be a very interesting game, especially after Valencia playing tonight.

    Sociedad vs Espanyol

Espanyol should really win that game.

Not much point having a poll imo if all options are not available.

If Arsenal Chelsea is more popular and wins the poll so be it, after all that is the idea of a poll, is it not?

There is no point to a poll if people are going to pick a set few teams IMO week after week and with that, not necessarily having any real value in those matches.

Quite a few people including moi have said in past polls that they were sick of the big teams always winning the poll and winning by some distance. The latter of which was most frustrating for me.

As well as that I agreed with others opinions that it was probably best if the matches in the poll were ones on shown live on TV. No point cluttering up a poll with matches that won't be voted for.

TBH, I can't see anything other than a Chelsea win anyway especially if a certain Ivory Coast striker starts ;)

Yeah and if its most popular choice it means majority of people want it discussed not another game.

narrowing it down to a couple games that suits minority is not the answer, why bother with a poll?

Why not have threads for the top 2 in a poll?

Btw i agree with the live game part

I don't want to keep chopping and changing this, but I'll take it into consideration ;)

I agree,if more people vote then obviously more people will be willing to voice their opinion on best bets.I think there is a blur of lines sometimes in the votes,as some people think they are trying to find the match with the best value while others want more opinions hence voting for the bigger games where more people would have an opinion.

I voted for the English game as I havent been following La Liga as much but for the record I wont have any input this week, apart from this,as I dont have Sky(which is another thing which is restricting folk) so will not be watching any of these games.

I was serious when I said I'll consider it

I do want to settle on something instead of chopping and changing the format constantly though....

I'd say some people pick the 'big games' because it's the only game they're bothered to watch, they might be more interesting to said person because they follow the league in England, but doesn't neccesarily mean that it'll be as good a game or will have as good value as the others.

That's exactly it and that's where the clash is. I'll have a think about it none the less and see what I can do for next week.

I don't get ft9 when he says why bother having a poll. There are 3 choices and people pick one. If he wants you to include Chelsea and Arsenal we might as well include the Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter, Ajax games this weekend as well as who knows. Maybe they might be picked ahead of the Chelsea one if they were up there.

This is Adnan's idea and he has given 3 options. I don't see what the problem is with rotating the teams available to pick from. A trend was developing where people were picking the Chelsea, United or Arsenal etc games. Now that's a reason to stop with the whole thing as the outcome is predictable. Alternating the games adds more variety. I don't want to be scouring the same teams markets week in week out. I'm sure many don't either. The idea behind the thread would get boring quick.

I wasnt trying to have a go or anything Adnan, the polls a great idea.

What im saying is that the way it is at the minute i have not got much interest in taking part an i am sure there are many others in the same boat.

Hard to please everyone, well impossible actualy, but sure keep at it and im sure youl get it as close as possible. I voted in this just for the sake of it really, which i regret as i wont be taking part.

Don't worry about it. Like I said, I'll have to have a think about it over the next week or so.

If I must, I will discuss it with the other mods sometime if I'm still undecided.

As for not taking part. Voting and giving your opinion on the best bets in said match is taking part as much if not even more than making a bet IMO :)

Nail on the head pal. I voted for the Bilbao game but if the Wolves one wins i will have a look at the market and post up something if i come across a bet that stands out. I probably won't bet on it but at least it's a bit of input and keeping the thread and idea alive. Gotta take the good with the bad.
