Best road from Westport to Dublin

    In a nutshell, I drove from Dublin to Westport yesterday using the N4 and M4 and the the N5 which is not a great road! Heading back to Dub tomorrow evening and am tempted to go via Galway this time using the N84. Anyone know if the condition of the N84 is any better than the worst stretch of the N5? Or any other advice? Thanks!:confused:

    from my memory the westport/galway road is pretty sh1te and you're better off via castlebar/n5.

    To be fair, the only bad section of the main Dublin/Westport road is the bit between Strokestown and Ballaghadereen which is only about 25 minutes and the last 10-15 miles into Westport from Castlebar. Good wide roads the rest of the way
