    Hi,

Anyone know what the switch is for in a Zanussi Fridge Freezer.

It brings on a red light.

    Thanks

I'm not 100% sure but it could be for the 'fast freeze' function.

it is a type of fast freeze ,but if you leave it on for prolonged periods it can blow the motor .

It's a low ambient temperature switch. It's used when the temperature in the room where your fridge/freezer is situated drops below a certain temperature for prolonged periods e.g. duing a very cold spell of weather.

Usually, this only really affects people whose appliances are located in a garage or utility room without heating. In normal circumstances the appliance will work fine during cold spells in a kitchen that has no heat on overnight but does during the day, but what happens when it's located somewhere very cold for longer periods in very cold weather is that the thermostat doesn't activate the compressor so the freezer will start to defrost.
