    Alright lads
I have been lurking on this forum and making the odd few posts here and there for a few years now and most of you seem like a sound bunch, so bear with me for a moment as I recount a bit of (my)history - I grew up in Delaware in the US (Dela-where? many of you will ask = mid-East coast just below New Jersey) and hunting and fishing was pretty much a way of life. From September to January you could find me on the water or in the fields in pursuit of just about anything - whitetails, turkey, gray squirrels, mourning doves, ducks, geese, quail, rabbits, bullfrogs, largemouth bass, Stripers, blackfish - the list goes on - if there was a legal season I went for it.
The unfortunate bit of this equation is that I had my heart stolen by a lovely woman from Terenure, and being the nice chap that I am, I said I would try living over here for a few years and see how it went. That was 11 years, a marriage, 2 houses and 2 sons ago!
I've managed to keep up with the fishing but apart from a few visits to Courtlough for some trap shooting(class outfit there by the way), I haven't lifted a gun for as long as I've been here and I have sorely missed it.
Which brings me to my proposition for you, the good members of the shooting forum - please help me get back into the outdoors!!
You need somebody to drag a deer out of the arsehole of nowhere, I'm your man. I'll even field-dress it for you.
Need birds retrieved and don't have a dog? I'm your man.
Want a beater for a driven shoot? I'm your man.
Want help maintaining hedgerows or other habitat - I'm your man.
Wnat your fly box filled for next trout season? I'll do that too.
Hell, I'll even wash your car and clean your house if that's what it takes. Just get me back in the field please!!
I remian - at your service guys - use me!!
    Cheers
    Chris

Jeezes man, looks like the virus has struck back with a vengeance...once hunting ( can't speak for fishing ) gets a hold of you it can be dormant for years but eventually you will get a flare up.

@Poulo6.5 - I can put a shine on anything - how may pairs and what time do you want me to show up?:D

@clivej - Must be something in the (h)air - as luck would have it mine's a redhead as well.

@deerhunter - Thanks for the welcome - hope to put a face to the name soon.

Thanks all for the responses - it's heartwarming to know that my boys might not have to grow up missing out on the experiences I had hunting and fishing. It shaped the whole way I live my life and it's what I want for them more than anything.

Forgot to mention, I'm O-positive if any of you need a pint or 2!:D

I've no kids (that I know of)
I bought my nephew a nerf foam dart gun the other day.
Or as he calls it "a bullet gun"

He always asks me "uncle ______, do you shoot wabbits in the fields?"

I told him when he is 10 I'll bring him (he's "twee" going on thirty three ;) )

I might be able to Oblige you with some Rabbit shooting in the Midlands!

We are all on the same page. I have fallen for a red head or two over the years. And the only pints we want are the kind you get over the counter.
I'm always up for a shot so when ever suits you.

And maybe Clive you might come down for another shot. But next time we will leave the weather behind

My oldest is "twee" as well - no doubt he'll be driving before I know it. Right now he doesn't know anyting about what Daddy used to do back home but I intend to change that. Luckily he has seen the fruits of a few spearfishing trips and is mad into watching the "divermen" shooting fish on Youtube so I imagine once he gets a taste of hunting he'll be well on for that too.
I got in a bit of jackrabbit hunting the last time I visited my (then) 6 year old nephew in Colorado - the rabbits were nearly as long as he was!
Even if it's just tagging along for the hike and fresh air until I get my FAC sorted I'll take you up on that!

I might be able to help when it comes to ducks, maybe Pheasants.

Unfortunately, it would be about a two hour drive. To be honest, the ducks where I go are beyond skitterish. They hate the sight of people [don't know why:rolleyes:]. If they see you within 200ya, they're gone. If you are into hill climbing, hiking, or walking, then the day wouldn't be a complete waste.

I cannot help when it comes to deer. I have to find some new spots myself. My stomping grounds just got sold off. :( Just before the full season too! They're will be others, but grounds are like women, you just get used to the one that treats you right.

Betcha miss walking down to the store and buying as many firearms as your credit card could handle, huh? :):):)

Was on the waterfront in NYC not too long ago. Feckin ducks and geese would swim right up to you, no fear. Should try and get them on a Continental Flight to Shannon!

I guess you do not have a boom-stick this side of the Atlantic, correct?

I'm up for anything - as any hunter knows sometimes the day out is the best part whether you make a kill or not. And I have a car that hasn't let me down yet so I don't mind a bit of a drive - I do the trip to Cork and back in a day for sea fishing so 2 hours is a short hop!

You are correct there - I don't have any guns this side of the Atlantic. They're all in storage back home - it seems with the red tape involved in importing them it would just be easier to buy one here so I'm working toward that - need to get an alarm installed here but this is an old house and there are a load of jobs that have to come before that - like replacing the drafty single glazing and putting in a new heating system.
It is heartbreaking not to be able to walk into a gun shop and walk out with a new toy the same day, any time you like but it seems like that's the breaks over here. As long as I can get myself sorted with a shotgun to start it will tide me over for a few years until I can get more involved in the Irish shooting scene. I'd love to see how deer stalking here stacks up to whitetail hunting back home.

I cannot wait until a few years when I am finished collage, at the mo I'm in collage 5 days a week and work every saturday and sunday so meeting up with people for shooting is not very feasable!

My daytime shooting is limited by what hours i can get off in collage!:D

But once my studies are over I do hope to put a face to a good few names from here!

in the mean time we will just have to keep plugging away.
