    Hi All,

just putting up a few links up to the RSA with regards the new CBT and how it affects you getting a Learner Permit.

Graduated Driver Licensing covers the basics. First section details when this comes into affect. For bikes, it is the 6th December. So, apply now for you theory test and your learner permit to avoid the CBT.

Common questions on GDL rollout are here. Is has a question specific to bikes which links to a PDF on the Initial Basic Training Course

Finally you can get further information on the test itself here.

    Note,
    - CBT only comes into affect on the 6th December for bikes.
    - Since December 2007, you need to wait 6 months between getting your Learner Permit and sitting your Test.
    - On the Test page linked above it states "Check in advance that your motorcycle complies with any kW restrictions on your learner permit." So, it is up to you to ensure the bike is correct for the test.
    - On passing, send in Cert straight away to get your restriction countdown started. Even with a Certificate of Competency you are still NOT entitled to drive on a motorway and/or carry a pillion.
    - R plates are coming soon, so be warned
    - Not everything has been touched on here but it is a start :D

Even in applying now to get your Permit to avoid the CBT, everyone here will still recommend that you get training at some stage in the first few months. Financailly, the price of training, if you get a good grade at the end, will reduce the cost of your premium. More importantly, you get great advice and skills to ensure you bike safely.

    Stay safe,

    Ro
