    Hey guys,

bought a new ASUS 1005pe from Elara at the start of the year.
Took it away with me to the states and it stopped working while over there. The notebook had barely been used. What happens is it just switches off completely between 1 and 10 minutes of turning it on. No shut down warning, just a total crash.

So I'm still under warranty but have a cracked version of 7 and because the laptop usually crashes in a matter of minutes I can't get it off.

Is my warranty void with a cracked version of 7 on the notebook?

    Thanks

    No.

Fairly cavalier attitude to piracy too btw ;)

check the cpu fan on the side and see if it's working or blocked by dust.

the cpu could be overheating and the laptop turns itself off due to the cpu heat settings.

    k

I'm agreeing with the overheating. Does it always turn off that quick? Does leaving it on table with vents clear make any difference?

worst case if your sending it back for warranty, take the harddrive out, stick it in another computer and wipe it.
put it back in the laptop, and send it off for repair.
