Megadrive and modern tvs

Hi, I have a megadrive which I'm trying to connect to a panasonic tv, relatively modern compared to the megadrive. Essentially I can't get it to tune in correctly on any frequency so I was wondering are there any scart leads with an input for the megadrive aerial lead?

A Megadrive/Genesis SCART/RGB cable should work find on recent and good old TVs which accept RGB signals via their SCART input:

Yea will also get a super crisp signal unlike if yea use the RF cable option

What Kerbdog said. Bin that RF cable. Nobody should be using them nowadays.

Just to note though, is the Panasonic an LCD? The RGB cable will give you crystal clear picture, but the LCD tv will still make it look like ass somewhat. For best picture quality you need a CRT television.

What about a plasma TV?

Plasma will give much better colour but the black levels will still be off.

I've a 42" Pioneer plasma...retro games look like a hairy arse on anything that doesn't have a tube. Colours are very nice, but the image has to be re-sized & filtered for the newer panels and it just doesn;t look right. LCD/Plasma only come into their own for 360 and upwards imo.

IT's not the consoles eiher, that screen is also my pc's monior. Runnig a retro emulator gives the same effect. There's just not enough pixels/resolution in the older games to give an image that big, properly.

That's it really. The Megadrive (and any other console designed for a CRT) needs its lower resolutions.

Its annoying as so many people probably take their old consoles down from the attic, hook it up to a LCD/Plasma and go -

'Holy ****! this looks much worse than I remember! I must have been deluded back then!'

/throws console in the bin.

When in fact it actually DOES look much worse than it did when you were younger. And it's only because of your new television.

Thanks. Are there any non megadrive specific equivalents to that lead available in maplin or an electronics store?

Be aware there's a different din socket on the Megadrive 1 compared to the Megadrive 2, which version have you?

The Megadrive 2 Din socket is a lot smaller than the Megadrive 1. So you'd want to make sure you get the correct cable alright.

On the plus side, it also works with a Sega Nomad
